Permissions and consent

When you connect an assistant, Freight Right shows you one list of what it will be able to do, and you approve it once. There is nothing to configure afterwards.

The consent page says what each line means for your account. For a customer that is the organizations linked to it. For a Freight Right administrator — who can connect only after an administrator switched it on for them — it is every organization: the page says so in as many words, and an assistant then names the client organization to bill on each price check or quote request.

What the assistant never gets

  • Your password, and no way to change it.
  • Any ability to book, cancel or change a shipment. The only write it can make on its own is a quote request.
  • Anything belonging to another account: a connection sees exactly what you see in Shipment Manager — a customer's organizations, or, for a Freight Right administrator, the platform.
  • Booking authority it does not have: a quote request is booked by the account that created it or by a current member of the organization it is billed to, and a request the assistant may only read says so.

Changing your mind

Freight Right → Profile → Connected assistants lists every assistant you connected, what each one may do, and when it was last used. Disconnect ends it immediately — the assistant's own copy of its access stops working at once, everywhere. A connection the assistant has not used for a while shows as inactive: it wakes on the assistant's next call, and one that stays unused for 30 days is ended for you (limits).

Connecting the same assistant again — to reconnect, or to approve more capabilities — replaces its earlier connection: the old one ends the moment the new one is made, so one assistant never holds two. A different assistant, or a different installation of the same one, leaves the first connection alone.

Your Freight Right administrator can also switch assistant access off for your account entirely, or switch off just pricing, quote requests or booking requests (an administrator's own account starts switched off, and is switched on the same way). If that happens, the assistant is told plainly; nobody is asked to reconnect.

If the assistant asks you to reconnect

Capabilities are added over time. A connection keeps exactly what it was granted, so an assistant connected before a capability existed will ask you to reconnect and approve the updated list. Nothing is ever added to an existing connection silently — approving the updated list makes a new connection, which replaces the old one.
